Growing up in Sweden I was taught early to knit and crochet and it became a great hobby for me that eventually turned into a business venture.
In 1967, after spending several years designing and producing hand knit sweaters for the ‘Trophe Room’ at Neiman Marcus, I decided it was time to go into business for myself and opened Inge’s Knit Shop.
After a few years of knitting and crocheting, needlepoint was starting to become the big rage. Handpainted needlepoint canvases were then added to our inventory and the name was changed to Inge’s Needle Art.
I really enjoyed designing and painting canvases exclusively for our shop at first but it did not take long before we received many inquires from other shop owners wanting to carry our designs as well. The next step was to create a wholesale needlepoint company and that’s how Creative Needle was born.
Our first time to exhibit in a needlepoint trade show was in New York in 1974 showcasing our beautiful ‘IMARI’ inspired designs. It was such a success that we now felt officially in the needlepoint business.
On my frequent trips overseas, I am always influenced by designs I see and use them as inspirations for new canvases. We specialize in elegant and timeless designs that will appeal to the most discriminating stitchers and hope you will be one of them in the future.
With this new web site we are pleased to present to you our most extensive collection ever. Due to the traditional look of our canvases we will update our web site only twice a year. Most of our designs are timeless and will be featured on our web site for many years.
We like to keep you stitching,
